Falken Tires supports the pulsating action at Red Bull Car Park Drift in Kuwait City
Mar 13, 2018
Kuwait’s motoring fraternity turned out in their thousands to witness the exciting Red Bull Car Park Drift qualifier in Kuwait City. The action on the track had the crowd jumping out of their seats, while away from it, Falken gave drift fans plenty to cheer about too.
Twenty-six drifters began the first round on a course planned by drift legend Abdo Feghali at Sirbb Circuit. The field was whittled down to a top four for the third and final round, and it was Ali Makhseed who emerged triumphant. The win was a double triumph for Makhseed as he retained the title of Kuwait’s King of Drift for the second year running.
Makhseed in his Toyota GT 86 was given a close run to the title by Fahd Al Jedei, with the two drifters finishing with respective point totals of 386 and 372. Mesyar Abu Shaibah secured the third spot on the podium with a score of 295.
The cheering crowd were undoubtedly impressed by the drifting showdown, but it wasn’t just the fans that the drivers had to wow. A judging panel comprised of Fouad Abu Arja, Jean Pierre Nasrallah, Issam Najadi and Khaled Al Mudhaf were ultimately responsible for scoring the drifters on their skills and manoeuvres.
Falken also ensured it was a memorable day for motoring enthusiasts at the event. We handed out heaps of cool Falken-branded merchandise and provided one Falken Facebook follower with the opportunity to get in on the track action. After winning our Facebook competition, one lucky fan got the ride of their life on a co-pilot drive with Abdo Feghali; he also received two Friends of Red Bull passes to the event.
The Red Bull Car Park Drift Series is set to take a short break until May. Then, the action resumes in Tunis, Tunisia on May 12. So, while we’re hitting the brakes on the pulsating drifting drama for a few weeks, we’ll be ready to put our pedal to the metal when the action fires up again! Catch you soon.
