Falken Tires keeps fans cheering loudly at Red Bull Car Park Drift in Jordan

Jul 15, 2018

Motorsports fans in Jordan flocked to the car park of the Amman Exhibition Park to see the country’s finest drifters face off on a challenging track. But it wasn’t just the drivers that were bringing excitement to the day, Falken also pulled out all the stops to keep visitors to the event entertained.

Drift legend Abdo Feghali was once again tasked with laying out a track to challenge the drivers’ skills to the max, and he didn’t disappoint. The sixteen drifters that hit the track for the first round were given ample opportunity to demonstrate their skills in spinning through spirals, boxes and gates, not to mention sending smoke and noise into the air.

The second and third rounds saw the field narrowed down, first to eight, and then to a final four. Rafat Haroon, Abdullah Abu Hussein, Mahmoud Shaddad and Mjahed Al Baytamouni faced off in the final, with Haroon emerging triumphant.

Haroon, driving a Toyota GT 86, scooped the title of Jordan’s King of Drift with a points total of 376, Hussein was the runner up on 320 points, while Shaddad claimed the final spot on the podium with a score of 281.

Anas Beshto, Ali Balushi and Jean-Pierre Nasrallah had the tough task of judging the drifters across the three rounds, scoring them not just on their skills maneuvering around the track, but also the overall design and look of their cars.

The drifters may have been wowing the crowd trackside, but Falken also provided motoring fans with plenty to cheer about. Firstly, Falken gave one lucky Facebook competition winner the experience of a lifetime, a co-pilot drive with Abdo Feghali, as well as two Friends of Red Bull passes to the event. Four additional Facebook fans scooped two Grandstand passes each. Falken’s booth at the event also handed out loads of goodie bags packed with branded merchandise to the delight of fans.

While Rafat Haroon will now turn his mind to preparations for the series final in Beirut in September, we’re revving up our engines and charting course to the beautiful island of Mauritius where the next qualifier takes place in Port Louis on July 28th. Can’t wait to see how the action unfolds…
